Saw it last night and I'm still undecided as to whether I liked it or not.

First of all, I went into it with VERY low expectations because: 1. The director, Chris Weitz, has already butchered one of my all time favourite books, 'Northern Lights' (or 'the Golden Compass', if you're American) and I will never forgive him for this, while his brother made a total pig's arse of 'Cirque du Freak'. 2. No Cullens, I knew this going in of course but was still hoping to get more than we did. 3. 'New Moon' is the book I've read least of out of all of them, I skimmed almost the whole thing cos I couldn't get through Bella's mumping.

The GOOD:

CARLISLE - obviously. Sexy flashback too!

STITCHING UP BELLA - anyone else think it was kinda sexual when she was gripping Carlisle's torso? That was hot, anyway.

CHARLIE - poor Charlie, he puts up with so much shit.

ARO - I was already a Michael Sheen fan but now I love him, he was charmingly creepy as Aro.

LAURENT - I laughed so hard when he appeared. If you didn't, you have to see this: [link]

THE CG WOLVES - looked so cuddly! I wanted to touch their fur.

VOLTURI FIGHT SCENE - was pretty fun, Edward's face-crack was a nice touch. Looking forward to more action in Eclipse.

'I WON'T LOSE MY SON' - Aaaaawww! I love how he just ignores Bella. Carlisle & Edward are so sweet together.

THE AUDIENCE - were hilarious, aawwing and shrieking when Jacob/Edward was topless and then raging at the end when the credits rolled.

The BAD:

THE CULLENS - or lack thereof.

BELLA (AND HER JAW) - you know.

EDWARD - and how much of a whiney git he is.

JACOB - and how I've warmed to him and feel sorry for him. What is wrong with me?!

EDWARD/BELLA KISSES - make me cringe, they just look so awkward!

THE SOUNDTRACK - was ok but not standout.

THE PLOT - or lack thereof. But I guess it was just being faithful to the book.

THE LENGTH - way too long man.

The MOOD - I know it was meant to be all mopey and emo and depressing but I didn't like it. I got very bored.

Unsatisfied Carlisle-cravings aside, I think Chris Weitz actually made a pretty good effort considering the book he was trying to adapt but it just didn't seem to be going anywhere.
Overall I'd give it a generous 3/5. I prefer Twilight but have hopes for Eclipse!
